Vodka and Caviar

Probably the only thing i'm willing to pay full price for is nail polish. I proudly consider myself a nail polish snob. I refuse to wear anything but OPI colors, and the sight of a chipped nail is enough to cause me to have a mini freak out. Over the years i've accumulated quite a collection of colors; mattes, glitter, and pearly which you can see some of in the last pic. There's been quite a technological boom in the world of nail polish like decals, stickers, and my personal favorite shallac gel manicures. If you can't afford to go to the nail salon every week for a manicure then I strongly suggest investing in some OPI colors. My favorite is called Vodka and Caviar, a beautiful vibrant red.  The hardest part for me is waiting for my nails to dry. I can't tell you how many times i've spent 45 minutes meticulously painting each nail only to reach for the remote control and get a smudge. OPI makes a drying spray that works better than any drugstore spray but it's a little more expensive. they usually sell small sizes in  pack with a manicure kit that I think is a pretty good deal. beautifully painted nails are the perfect accent to any beautiful outfit.

Layer Cake

I consider myself a California girl through and through, and like any true Californian I hate cold and rainy weather.  For me it's just more fun to get dressed in the summer, with all the bright colors and different silhouettes there seems to be more options. The only way to have fun getting dressed in the winter is through the exciting world of layering. If you're like me you probably rotate around a couple heavy jackets and scarves to make it through these cold frigid months. I mean, who has the money (and space) to have a different coat for every day? Layering allows you to take those basic, practical, warm pieces and make them look a little different every day. I also think it's cool to layer unexpected things. Why not wear that faux fur vest over your leather jacket? Why not wear that blazer under your leather jacket? The possibilities are endless.Winter is not the time to worry about looking bulky, that's what summer's for.

Thanks to a good friend and fellow blogger's bravery, I felt like I was in a position to finally start my own blog. When it comes to fashion I think I have a very different point-of-view than many other self-proclaimed fashionistas. I think it's important to break the so-called rules of fashion. Blending different genres of fashion is perhaps one of the most exciting parts of expressions through clothes. I recently read an article that said in 2012 the author would like to see ankle booties and leopard print fade out of the top trends. I honestly couldn't disagree more with that statement. I definitely think leopard print especially can come off cheap and trashy if done incorrectly (i.e. anything Snookie wears) but can also add such an awesome statement if paired with the right things. Like for example a great pair of booties. Booties should be a staple in every girls closet, and we should all resist the aforementioned "fade out".
